The island’s preeminent boutique hotel deepens its commitment to design-led, place-rooted hospitality with a thoughtfully conceived expansion.
Nantucket, MA (August 10, 2026) – Greydon House, the design-forward boutique hotel that has defined a new standard for luxury hospitality on Nantucket since its 2016 debut, announces a significant expansion: a new lounge and four individually conceived guest suites that extend the property’s singular vision without replicating it. The addition advances Greydon House’s reputation as a place where history and contemporary sensibility exist in genuine conversation.
Connected to the original Broad Street property by a brick pathway, the expansion continues Greydon House’s commitment to preserving and evolving Nantucket’s architectural legacy. Designed by Nantucket-based Emeritus with interiors by Natasha Willauer, whose work on the project deepens a long-standing creative relationship with the property.
On the ground floor, a generous new lounge anchored by a bold wraparound 13-seat bar offers an intimate setting for cocktails, light bites, and unhurried conversation. Aptly titled The Green Room, the space’s color palette is a nod to the original property, featuring a medley of seagreens. The space draws on Natasha’s lifelong immersion in European boutique hospitality, where no two rooms are alike and every corner rewards closer looking. Sourced from local Nantucket antique shops, vintage markets across New England, and independent artisans, the lounge reflects the same layered, lived-in sensibility that defines the guest suites above.
The four bespoke guest suites translate Nantucket’s coastal landscape into a refined domestic language punctuated by soft blues and greens layered with warm woods, brick hues, and brass accents. Custom furnishings crafted on-island are set alongside antiques and vintage pieces sourced throughout New England, creating spaces that feel both curated and deeply personal.
Architectural detail is central to each room’s identity. Gothic windows overlooking North Water Street command several suites, while thoughtfully considered layouts honor the historic footprint. Select bathrooms emerge as destinations of their own, featuring dual shower systems, marble finishes, and custom walnut vanities.
“The goal was never to replicate the original, but to create something that feels like a natural extension – more like a cousin than a twin,” said Natasha Willauer, founder of Natasha Willauer Interiors. “We wanted each space to feel individually lived-in, while still connected to the larger story of Greydon House.”
Since opening, Greydon House has carved out a distinct position in the luxury travel landscape. Designed by Roman and Williams, set in a former sea captain’s home, and home to Via Mare restaurant and a celebrated bar program, the property has long offered guests something the broader market cannot easily replicate: the feeling of arriving somewhere that has an authentic sense of place.
The expansion will also include a patio and garden, set to be completed this fall. With this next chapter, Greydon House affirms its standing as Nantucket’s most compelling hospitality address – and one of the most thoughtfully realized boutique hotels in the Northeast.
The Green Room is open for service Thursday-Monday from 3pm to 10pm.
