Where to Find the Best Nantucket Food

Find the Most Important Meal of the Day
Black-Eyed Susan’s is a long-running diner in the heart of Downtown Nantucket. Think less chic and more hometown when you’re planning your breakfast trip to this spot. Get there early, as lines form quickly, find your place at the bar or snag a table outside, and fill up on classic favorites.
You can’t go wrong with any of their wholesome choices, but our favorite is the creamy, Hollandaise-smothered eggs benedict. The restaurant has a BYOB policy. Pair it with your favorite hard cider in the fall or sparkling wine in the summer, and you’ll be ready for a day of exploring the town.
If you’re looking for a quick breakfast, look no further. You cannot leave the island without taking a warm, flakey bite out of The Downyflake’s homemade doughnuts. Grab a cup of Green Mountain Coffee and one of their maple glazed cake doughnuts, and satisfy your sweet tooth.
Where to Stop for Lunch
CRU Oyster Bar
Walk with us to the end of the dock. Smell the salty sea air. Grab a glass of rosé. And indulge in pristinely shucked oysters at CRU Oyster Bar. We particularly love CRU at the lunch bell for its views of ferries and fishing boats gliding into the harbor.
Obviously, you’ll want to get an order of oysters so check the revolving oyster card for daily selections. Also, CRU’s caviar selections are wonderfully paired with crème fraîche, toasted brioche, and butter-covered raw oysters.
If you’re on your way to the beach, make a stop at Something Natural right next to Coffin Park. The organic sandwich shop offers house-crafted lemonades, thick, tasty sandwich options, and homemade bread. We have to stick to our New England roots with a chilled, lobster salad sandwich from this traditional Nantucket cafe. It’s refreshing, filling, and fresher than you’ll ever find on the mainland.
Indulge in a Five-Star Dinner
Greydon’s go-to restaurant, Via Mare, boasts progressive twists on traditional American dishes. Via Mare is one of the only spots on the island that flawlessly blends a refined, intimate, and elegant five-star atmosphere with a relaxed Bohemian vibe.
We may be biased, but you truly can’t go wrong with anything from Chef Marcus Ware. However, one of our very favorites is the utterly delectable and fresh pan-seared scallops. Paired with a buttery chardonnay, you’ll want to sit and simmer. It’s Nantucket food at it’s finest.
Òran Mór is one of the most intimate spots on the island and serves up entrees fit for the finest. Ingredients are locally sourced, service is impeccable, and the atmosphere makes for the perfect date night. The Long Island Duck Breast is expertly crafted with spring onion, peaches, a honey glaze, warm duck confit, potato hash, and topped with Calabrian pepper salsa.
