Nantucket Film Festival Hotel Accommodations

The island of Nantucket may not be the biggest around—not by a long shot—but it certainly punches far above its weight when it comes to scenery, atmosphere, and cultural attractions.

And among those cultural attractions is one of the world’s standout destination film festivals. This year’s Nantucket Film Festival, the 22nd annual, runs June 21 through 26, and as always there’s an incredibly rich program of feature films, shorts, and documentaries—plus some fascinating panels and talks—on tap.

For boutique luxury accommodations during the festival, you needn’t look further than the Greydon House. We’re mere blocks from the Nantucket Film Festival venues, and our “Nantucket chic” guestrooms and outstanding amenities give you a truly top-tier home base from which to enjoy the onscreen artistry.

The Film Festival

Established in 1996, the Nantucket Film Festival has staked out some impressive territory for itself amid international celebrations of the silver screen. Today it’s a major highlight of Nantucket’s summer, which sees thousands flock to our beloved New England isle.

This year’s festival presents quite the spectrum of genres, formats, subjects, and moods. Proceedings open with comedian Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon’s evocation of their own romantic journey, The Big Sick, and the family-friendly Pixar/Disney release Cars 3. The festival’s closing feature will be An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, Al Gore’s followup to his high-profile 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth.

In between? All kinds of good stuff, not least the festival’s centerpiece film Whitney: Can I Be Me, a poignant documentary focused on the music megastar Whitney Houston. Then there’s Dog Years, starring Burt Reynolds as an aging big-screen legend; the FBI thriller Wind River, set on Wyoming’s Wind River Indian Reservation; a focus on one of the country’s literary legends and deepest thinkers in Look & See: A Portrait of Wendell Berry; and Serenade for Haiti, chronicling a Haitian school of classical music on the heels of a devastating earthquake—and much, much more.

And we’d be remiss not mentioning this year’s “Beach Screening”: La Bamba, shown in its 30th-anniversary year.

Among the Q&As, award ceremonies, and other associated events, one definite highlight will be the All-Star Comedy Roundtable presented by Ben Stiller, which’ll feature a quartet of immensely talented (and hilarious) women: Sasheer Zamata, Whitney Cummings, Kristen Schaal, and Bridget Everett.
